Easter egg hunts, backyard picnics, family portraits... spring is the season made for tiny humans in beautiful clothes. Here's how to dress your little one for every magical moment.
There is something about spring that makes a mama's heart sing a little louder. Maybe it's the soft morning light coming through the windows. Maybe it's the smell of fresh blooms. Or maybe — and I think this is it — it's the moment you zip your baby into that perfect little dress and realize, oh my goodness, they have never looked more precious in their entire lives.
Spring is our favorite season here at Gabby Lou Baby, and not just because of the colors (although pastels in 100% Pima cotton? truly unbeatable). It's because this season is packed with the kinds of moments you want to dress up for, and dress up beautifully.
Whether you're counting down to Easter morning, planning a family portrait session, or just want an excuse to put your baby in something twirl-worthy on a random Tuesday, we've got you covered, sweet mama.

1. The Classic Easter Dress
If there's one piece every baby girl wardrobe needs this spring, it's a smocked dress in a soft pastel. Our Baby Blues Smocked Dress is everything: crafted from two layers of the softest Peruvian Pima cotton, with delicate smocking across the chest, the tiniest puff sleeves, and a Peter Pan collar trimmed in crisp white.
It's the dress that photographs like a dream. It's the dress that gets saved in a memory box. It's the dress that makes grandmama cry at brunch.
✨ Pro tip: Order 2–3 weeks before Easter so you have time to exchange sizes if needed. Our Pima cotton is cut generously, but babies grow fast!
♡ Pairs beautifully with a simple white headband and Mary Janes
♡ Dress it down with little white sandals for the egg hunt
♡ Layer with a soft cardigan for chilly spring mornings in Oklahoma
2. The Ruffle Romper: For the Little One Who Means Business
Not every spring moment calls for a full dress, and that's where our Ruffle Romper comes in. Available in our gorgeous Royal Blue, this romper is the perfect blend of adorable and practical.
Made from breathable, hypoallergenic Pima cotton with the sweetest ruffle details, it's designed for little ones who need to move: crawl, toddle, chase bubbles,... while still looking absolutely polished.
✨ This is the outfit for Easter morning before church, when you need her to be cute AND mobile. Trust me on this one.
♡ Snap closures for quick changes (because Easter morning is hectic enough)
♡ Bold colors pop in every outdoor photo
♡ Machine-washable; because grass stains are inevitable and that is okay
3. Spring Layering: Because Oklahoma Weather Has Other Plans
If you're a fellow Okie mama, you know. We could have 75 degrees and sunshine on Easter Sunday, or we could have 48 degrees and wind. The secret to stress-free spring dressing is all in the layers.
Here's the formula I swear by with Gabby and Lou:
♡ Base: A soft Pima cotton onesie, shirt or footed romper
♡ Layer: The smocked dress or ruffle romper over top
♡ Finish: A fine-knit cardigan or light cotton jacket that you can pull on and off
This way, you're ready for whatever the day brings, and your little one stays comfortable from the egg hunt all the way through the afternoon nap.
4. Colors We're Loving for Spring 2026
This season, we are completely obsessed with the palette that feels like a walk through a Southern garden in bloom:
♡ Vintage Baby Blue: Soft, timeless, and absolutely dreamy for portraits. This is the shade that photographs like it was painted.
♡ Ivory & Cream: The most elegant neutral; pairs with literally everything and makes every skin tone glow.
♡ Sage Green: Fresh, modern, and unexpectedly perfect for spring. So beautiful against blush florals.
♡ Blush & Rose: Classic Southern baby. Soft, sweet, and eternally pretty.
✨ When in doubt, choose ivory or baby blue for Easter portraits. They never compete with the spring scenery, they just make your baby the star.
5. A Note on Fabric for Spring
This might sound like a small thing, but I promise it is everything: the fabric you choose for spring matters more than the style.
Spring weather is unpredictable. Babies run hot. Outdoor events mean grass, sunshine, and inevitably some sort of mess. That's why every piece in our shop is made from 100% Pima cotton, grown in the high altitudes of Peru, it is significantly softer, more breathable, and more durable than regular cotton.
It wicks moisture, it's hypoallergenic (a must if your baby has sensitive skin, as mine do), and it just gets softer with every single wash. Your little one stays comfortable from the first smile of the morning to the last yawn of the afternoon.
Whatever this spring brings — the chaos, the laughter, the spilled Easter baskets, the photos that don't quite go as planned — we hope your little love is dressed in something that feels as precious as the moment itself.
With so much love,
Anne, Gabby & Lou ♡
